Browse this venue’s gear ↗Analogue Foundation listening room built as a complete vintage Western Electric / Altec theatre chain: A5 in WE 825 cabinets with 515b woofers, 1505b horns and 288c compression drivers, plus a Fostex T90A on top. Shindo Cortese 300B (Western Electric 300B tubes) and Shindo Monbrison drive the horns; a Garrard 301 with Schick 12-inch arm and Audio-Technica ART1000 / VM 750 SH cartridges is the source, wired with Auditorium 23. This is a low-power, high-efficiency Japanese-school system in an acoustically designed Mitte room — scale and tone at modest SPL, not dancefloor headroom.

About the sound system
How the system serves the room
Neiro’s Garrard source and Shindo electronics feed a large Altec-based horn system, with a Fostex T90A handling the additional high-frequency role identified in the equipment list. Efficient horn systems are a plausible partner for relatively low-powered valve amplification, allowing substantial output without treating amplifier wattage as the only measure of suitability.
Adding a separate high-frequency unit makes level matching and crossover integration significant. The acoustically designed room is also part of the system: early reflections and listener position influence how the separate acoustic sources combine. The component list does not establish the measured result.
