Parachute HiFi

The room

The Avondale venue grew from the chefs’ earlier Parachute restaurant. Its record library and rotating selectors make room for soul, Korean disco and music from the 1970s, with food drawing on several Asian pub traditions.

The principal loudspeakers are a pair of 1970s Altec Lansing Model 19s, acquired from a collector in Peoria and wired by Johnny Clark. Other vintage speakers displayed around the room should not all be read as active parts of the system.
