Downbeat
The room
Founded in 1956, Downbeat occupies the second floor of the Miyamoto Building in Noge. A long room separates the sofas and tables from the bar, with jazz records giving the place its continuity across generations of owners.
Audio-Technica’s 2022 portrait describes a numbered record collection and a request book, with modern jazz, hard bop and bebop among the selections. Coffee and brown spirits fit the café-bar format.
