The room
More than 2,000 records give 888’s downtown Nashville listening lounge a deep musical starting point. Attached to the JW Marriott and inspired by Japanese kissas, the room puts soul, funk and jazz at the centre of its selection.
The sound installation brings together Steven Durr, Soundlux Audio and Devon Turnbull of OJAS. That collaboration gives hi-fi enthusiasts another reason to spend time with the room as well as the collection.

Sound system
Browse this venue’s gear ↗OJAS / Devon Turnbull’s horn-loaded, Altec-inspired loudspeakers are integrated into the room through a collaboration with Steven Durr Designs and Soundlux Audio. Multiple amplifiers occupy the wall installation, while Technics SL-1200-family decks provide the vinyl source. Exact amplifier models and deck generations are unspecified.
System design and acoustic work are linked to the wood-panelled interior developed with Commune Design. The installation is architectural in scope: loudspeakers, electronics and the room were considered together.
