Inside the system

Project Audio’s installation combines Tannoy Westminster Royal-class towers and Super Tweeters with four TPI UC15G units, two beneath each Westminster. Tannoy Autograph Minis provide fill, with Luxman M-10X and 509Z electronics, FFA/NST amplification and DSP crossover and time alignment. Two Technics SL-1200G decks feed an Isonoe 420 rotary mixer. Separate listening stations use an SL-1210MK7, Leak Stereo 130 and Grado SR325x headphones. Townshend Seismic Isolators are used beneath the speaker stacks, linking the large-format loudspeaker arrangement with mechanical isolation.

Living Voice developed bespoke four-way horn-loaded satellites with 15-inch midbass drivers and two large bass cabinets under Kevin Scott’s direction. An Atelier du Triode 300B valve amplifier, listed at approximately 30 W Class A, serves the horns; two custom 500 W MOSFET amplifiers power the bass. The source collection includes Isonoe-modified Technics decks with Audio-Technica AT-XP7 cartridges and an Isonoe rotary mixer, plus a Kuzma Stabi XL-series deck with an ART1000 cartridge. Tascam DA-3000, Revox B77, Studer A730 and Pioneer CDJ-2000NXS2 sources add digital and tape formats. Apart Mask 6T speakers with REVAMP4120T amplification provide café fill. The split between main horns, bass cabinets and fill speakers is central to the room’s architecture.

Public Records has several distinct installations. The indoor Sound Room combines Void Nexus XL subwoofers, OJAS quad-15 slot-loaded midbass cabinets, Altec 1505B multicell horns and Faital supertweeters. Void and BGW amplification works with BSS processing; four Technics SL-1200MK2s and four Pioneer CDJ-2000NXS2s accompany a custom Isonoe mixer. The Bar Room uses replica Altec 816 midbass cabinets, OJAS cabinets with 500 Hz horns and Altec high-frequency drivers, plus Void Venu 115 subwoofers. Crown and BGW amplification accompanies analogue crossovers, with two SL-1200MK2s, two CDJ-2000NXS2s and an Isonoe mixer at the booth. The outdoor Nursery has an OJAS × NNNN fully horn-loaded four-way installation. A later Atrium installation uses six OJAS × NNNN ON M I assemblies and eight TL18 subwoofers. These room-specific systems represent different chapters and spaces, rather than components of one signal chain.

Inside the system

The Main Room combines OJAS × NNNN ON2 and NNNN Gage 125 loudspeakers with McIntosh C55 control electronics, Powersoft Unica amplification and Rupert Neve Designs and Manley processing. The signal-processing equipment includes Neve MBT, P2MB and RMP-D8 units and a Manley Massive Passive stereo valve equalizer. The booth offers ARS 9900BW, 5000 and 3500LE equipment alongside an AlphaTheta euphonia mixer, Technics SL-1200G-S decks and Pioneer CDJ-3000 players. An Isonoe five-band equalizer, Benchmark DAC3 HGC and NNNN monitoring broaden its control and playback options. The Blue Room follows a separate OJAS chain: TAD loudspeakers, a Super-sub, Phonoplayer 1200G, April phono stage and April PSET 300B amplification. The contrast between the extensively processed Main Room and the dedicated valve-amplified Blue Room is a defining feature of the installation.

Klipsch Cornwall mains sit alongside additional Klipsch speakers and subwoofers, Altec five-panel horns and vintage Cary valve amplification. Technics 1200-family decks use Isonoe isolators, with a MasterSounds Radius four-valve mixer and effects unit at the booth. The installation combines different loudspeaker roles with an analogue source chain. Isolation at the turntables addresses mechanical vibration reaching the playback equipment, a practical concern when vinyl shares a room with substantial loudspeakers.

Bar Shiru combines Line Magnetic 812-LM Altec Iconic horns, DeVore O93 Orangutans and three pairs of Dynaudio X18 speakers. Amplification includes Line Magnetic 805-IA and 34-IA valve integrateds plus three Parasound Halo A23+ amplifiers. The inventory spans several speaker and amplifier types; individual channel assignments are not specified. The vinyl front end includes an SME20 and a VPI SuperScoutmaster with JMW arm, Ortofon 2M Black cartridges, Line Magnetic LP-33 phono stages and a custom Isonoe ISO420 rotary mixer. The combination gives record playback a substantial dedicated signal chain before it reaches the room’s multiple speaker positions.

Inside the system

Klipsch La Scala loudspeakers serve the front of the room, with Heresy III speakers at the rear. Reloop RP-7000 MK2 turntables, an Isonoe ISO420 rotary mixer-preamplifier and Yamaha MX-2 amplification complete the main equipment list. Focal Alpha 80 monitors serve the booth.

Inside the system

JBL 4344 monitors from 1983 form the main loudspeaker pair. Playback includes a Rega Planar 8 and two Technics SL-1210GR turntables, with an Isonoe 420 mixer and Rega amplification. Needle contributed to the acoustic work.
