The Hi-Fi Atlas
Privacy Policy
Updated 27 September 2026. This notice describes the current The Hi-Fi Atlas website.
Browsing and hosting
Our hosting and security providers (OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare infrastructure) process connection information, such as IP address, requested URL, browser information and request time, to deliver and protect the website. We do not use this information to build advertising profiles. Infrastructure logs are governed by provider retention and security controls.
Your choices and browser storage
CookieConsent stores your optional-service choices in the first-party atlas_cc cookie for 180 days, shared between thehifiatlas.com and www.thehifiatlas.com. Analytics cookies, advertising permissions, embedded media and street maps remain off until enabled. Google can receive limited cookieless measurement signals before consent and after analytics cookies are rejected. Necessary navigation and consent storage remain available. . Earlier atlas-consent-v1 settings do not authorize these services.
Street maps
Selected city views request OpenStreetMap tiles only when you allow embedded media and street maps. This sends connection information to OpenStreetMap. The local map overview and directory remain usable without that permission. OpenStreetMap privacy policy.
Embedded media and external links
When enabled, Instagram embeds and YouTube thumbnails load near the viewport. Instagram loads in small batches once the page is ready; a failed request may be retried once. YouTube and SoundCloud playback starts when requested. Providers receive browser, connection and page information and may use cookies or storage under their own policies. Original links remain available if media is disabled. Retailers and other linked websites apply their own notices. Providers may process information internationally.
Analytics
Google Analytics (G-LETPB0CEV3) uses Advanced Consent Mode. The Google tag loads before consent and can send limited cookieless measurement signals while analytics consent is denied. Analytics cookies and persistent analytics identifiers are enabled only with permission. Cookieless signals are still data sent to Google; they are not a guarantee of anonymity. Google receives browser, device, page and connection information under its privacy policy. Our manual page views and affiliate-click events omit URL queries and fragments; affiliate-click events record the referring page, not the retailer URL. Google signals and advertising personalization remain disabled in this Analytics configuration. The separate first-party aggregate analytics client remains disabled. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track keep analytics and advertising consent off. The Google Ads tag (AW-1022858236) is installed with advertising consent denied by default. With advertising permission, we report page views as Google Ads conversions using the supplied page-view action. With analytics permission, we count affiliate clicks separately from page views in Google Analytics. Affiliate clicks measure referrals, not purchases or revenue. The event includes the page path without its query or fragment; we do not add the retailer URL or form details. The advertising preference controls storage, user-data and personalization signals.
Suggestions and enquiries
We store submitted venue details and messages privately for editorial review or to respond to your request. An email address is optional for enquiries and is used to reply, not to enrol you in marketing. Do not submit sensitive information. To reduce abuse we process the submitting IP transiently and store a daily keyed network hash and a duplicate-content hash. We use this information to operate and protect the service and respond to requests. Submissions currently remain until editorial deletion; we review whether they are still needed. You can request deletion through the contact form. Public venue facts may be incorporated into profiles; private contact details are not published.
Advertising, affiliate links and newsletters
No display-advertising scripts or newsletter collection are currently installed. Links labelled as affiliate links can earn us a commission; following a link may allow a retailer or affiliate network to attribute a purchase under its own privacy practices. Google Analytics counts affiliate-link clicks when analytics is allowed. A separate Google Ads affiliate-click conversion action awaits its own label. We will update this notice when the configuration changes.
Access, correction and deletion
Use the contact form for questions or requests about information you supplied. Never send passwords or identity documents. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, object to processing, restrict processing or complain to your privacy regulator. Use Cookie preferences in the footer to withdraw permission. Analytics and advertising consent changes take effect on the current page. Withdrawing embedded-media permission reloads the site to remove active media providers. CookieConsent clears matching first-party analytics and advertising cookies where accessible; it cannot delete third-party cookies or information already received by providers.
