Memphis Listening Lab
The room
Memphis Listening Lab makes a large collection of singles, LPs, CDs and music history available for public listening and study. Located on the second floor of Crosstown Concourse’s East Atrium, it is a cultural resource rather than a conventional bar.
The SoundRoom combines dedicated acoustic design with playback across physical and digital formats. A production studio is also available by appointment, and the programme includes listening sessions, performances and album events.
Sound system
Free public archive inside Crosstown Concourse with a purpose-designed SoundRoom developed with Jim Thompson of EgglestonWorks. This is a civic listening room, not a bar PA: EgglestonWorks’ involvement points to a carefully voiced full-range room for archive playback.

Memphis Listening Lab — inside the system
Jim Thompson of EgglestonWorks worked with architects and studio designers on the SoundRoom. The venue describes an integrated approach to construction materials, wall surfaces and playback equipment.
Its function is broader than a single-format vinyl system: the Lab supports physical and digital listening alongside its public archive.
