Custom installation

Jagusch crossovers are fitted to the room’s restored Altec A7 cabinets, updating the network between the vintage drivers.

Crossovers: Speaker-level autoformer crossovers

Inside the system

Rhinoçéros uses an Altec Voice of the Theatre A7 system: a 416A/828 bass section, 808 compression driver with aluminium diaphragm and a 511 horn, in a 16 Ω configuration. Werner Jagusch speaker-level autoformer crossovers and JBL 2405 supertweeters are important additions to the loudspeaker assembly. Thöress F2A11 amplification and a Thöress phono equalizer accompany a Micro-Seiki DQX-500 with Audio-Technica VM740ML and VM750SH cartridge options. Belden internal wiring and Canare amplifier cables complete a system in which the crossover and supplementary tweeters are as significant as the original Altec components.

Jagusch supplied crossovers for Siwilai’s OJAS loudspeakers, working within a build that also uses specialist-made Altec-type drivers.

Inside the system

Two OJAS installations serve separate rooms. The Live Room uses six 12-inch coaxial speakers. The Audiophile Bar combines OJAS 816 cabinets with Altec 311-90 horns, 288C compression drivers and Werner Jagusch crossovers. The bar’s February 2021 configuration includes Technics SL-1200MK2 turntables with Goldring E3 cartridges, a Urei 1620 mixer and reported McIntosh MC252 amplification. That dated configuration belongs to the Audiophile Bar and should be kept separate from the Live Room’s coaxial installation.
