EMT

EMT is associated with broadcast turntables and analogue playback equipment. Vintage 930-series decks appear in venue lists and in some tentative visual identifications.

Design & approach

EMT’s range brings together cartridges, tonearms, turntables and phono electronics. Its roots in professional audio date to 1940. The emphasis on a complete analogue front end makes model-level documentation particularly useful: the deck, arm, cartridge and phono stage each have a separate job in recovering and conditioning a record’s signal.

Bar Martha ↗

Reported / tentative

An EMT 930-ST is listed alongside a pair of Garrard 301s, giving Bar Martha more than one analogue playback platform.

  • Turntables: 2 × Garrard 301; EMT 930-ST (Garrard / EMT)

Inside the system

Bar Martha’s Tannoy Autographs are paired with a rotating selection of McIntosh and custom valve amplifiers. Garrard and EMT decks feed mixing and preamplification stages, so the installation combines record handling, signal control and speaker drive as distinct functions.

All Blues ↗

Reported / tentative

The available record tentatively identifies EMT equipment at All Blues. The model or attribution still needs confirmation.

  • Turntables: Possible Pair of 930 ST broadcast decks

Inside the system

At All Blues, the equipment record identifies JBL Possible 4343-series blue-baffle monitors; suffix requires confirmation. A monitor-oriented system can make detail and balance a clear focus. Its suitability across a public room still depends on listening distance, placement and the level at which it is operated.
