BSS Audio (Harman)

BSS Audio makes professional signal-processing equipment. It is represented here in a larger venue sound system.

Design & approach

BSS develops signal processing for installed systems, including routing and networked-audio platforms. Its range includes Soundweb and BLU link connectivity. These products can coordinate complex installations, but an actual venue’s input routing, delays and crossover settings require installation-specific evidence.

Equipment in use

BSS processing is named in the Sound Room’s amplification and control system. The processor model is not identified.

Inside the system

Public Records has several distinct installations. The indoor Sound Room combines Void Nexus XL subwoofers, OJAS quad-15 slot-loaded midbass cabinets, Altec 1505B multicell horns and Faital supertweeters. Void and BGW amplification works with BSS processing; four Technics SL-1200MK2s and four Pioneer CDJ-2000NXS2s accompany a custom Isonoe mixer. The Bar Room uses replica Altec 816 midbass cabinets, OJAS cabinets with 500 Hz horns and Altec high-frequency drivers, plus Void Venu 115 subwoofers. Crown and BGW amplification accompanies analogue crossovers, with two SL-1200MK2s, two CDJ-2000NXS2s and an Isonoe mixer at the booth. The outdoor Nursery has an OJAS × NNNN fully horn-loaded four-way installation. A later Atrium installation uses six OJAS × NNNN ON M I assemblies and eight TL18 subwoofers. These room-specific systems represent different chapters and spaces, rather than components of one signal chain.
